ZHUK. MIKHAIL
1883-1964 Zhuk Mikhail Ivanovich (1883 - 1964) - a prominent Ukrainian graphic artist, painter. He studied at the Kyiv School of Drawing N. Ìóðàøêîñå at H. Platonov and N. Pymonenko, at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, Cracow Academy of Fine Arts (with S. Wyspiański and Y. Megglfer). In 1925 he was rector of the Odessa Art Institute. He worked in the field of easel paintings, book illustrations. Together with G. Narbut and F. Krichevsky was at the forefront of higher art school in Ukraine. His works are kept in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Chernigov Art Museum, and other museums and private collections in Ukraine.
